Services: THP with Agion Nature's antimicrobial
THP Leather can now be purchased with continuous antimicrobial product protection from Agion.
Agion antimicrobial silver ion technology can be built right into the leather in the production process ensuring reduction of microorganism and bacteria for your leathers longevity and cleanliness.
Q: What is Agion?
A: Agion (silver ion) is a patented, long-lasting, effective,
broad-spectrum antimicrobial technology that actively targets microorganisms and bacteria on the protected surface of the leather. If Agion is on the product, millions of bacteria arent.
Q: How does Agion antimicrobial technology work?
A: Silver is a naturally occurring and effective antimicrobial material in its ionic form. Agion patented antimicrobial is built in to the leather and becomes an integral part of the material, unlike less permanent antimicrobial treatments. Upon contact with moisture (ambient moisture, a sneeze, etc.), silver ions are activated and released at a slow and steady rate to provide continuous, long-lasting product protection against damaging bacteria and odor-causing mold, as well as many other microbes.
Q: Why is antimicrobial protection important?
A: More and more people are becoming conscious of bacteria in the environment. Antimicrobials are used to control the growth of bacteria, fungi, mold and mildew, which lead to unclean surfaces. Using surface materials with antimicrobial protection helps keep your furniture odor-free and clean. Surface materials with Agion built in can, in a sense, be considered self-cleaning, as they inhibit microbial growth around the clock, day in and day out.
Q: Is Agion Antimicrobial Technology effective and approved?
A: The United States Environmental Protection Agency and regulatory agencies around the world mandate extensive independent laboratory testing to prove safety and efficacy before a registered product can be sold. Agion antimicrobials (as an additive) are EPA-registered for a broad range of uses, including food and water contact. In addition, they are FDA-listed. This technology is used today in consumer, industrial and medical products because of its effectiveness, EPA registration and FDA listing, making Agion a compelling choice for product protection.
The antimicrobial technology in the product provides product protection against microbes, but does not extend such protection to the user. The Agion antimicrobial is presently registered by the US EPA as a preservative and bacteriostatic agent for use in treated articles under 40 CFR 152.25(a).
